History-Making Surfboards for sale from Quiksilver Legends Mark Richards, Tom Carroll, Martin Potter, Matt Hoy and Jake Paterson - Help Clean Up Bali¹s Beaches

Get onto www.hoyshow.com surfing fans and make a pledge to buy one of these 5 legend's surfboards.  These exact replica surfboards from five of Quiksilver’s greatest surfing legends, Mark Richards, Tom Carroll, Martin Potter, Matt Hoy, and Jake Paterson are being sold to support their on-going efforts to raise money to help clean up Bali’s beaches.

This surfboard auction is part of the second annual Bali’s Big Eco Weekend recently held on July 6-8, as a Quiksilver and Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia sponsored event that is focused on raising the awareness of the importance of caring for Bali’s environment, to the local community, the government, tourism stakeholders, and the tourists who visit the “Island of the Gods.”

The highest pledge on each board at 6PM July 13th (Australian EST) will have the first right to purchase and own a piece of history, with the money going towards the on-going corporate social responsibility efforts by Quiksilver and Coca-Cola Amatil Indonesia to create a cleaner and healthier Bali for everyone to enjoy.

Up for sale are 5 legendary and game changing exact replica surfboards that have been hand made and personally signed, along with a signed canvas image, each of which has a short story written about the surfer and the surfboard by Vaughan Blakey, the editor of Surfing World in Australia.

Four-time world champion and Newcastle’s own Mark Richards has created a replica of the single fin board that he won his first Hawaiian events on, which was originally shaped by Reno Abellira. “It was a single fin wing pin which for its time was cutting edge in terms of rocker, rail shape, and outline. I recreated the replica from memory as a tribute to this board and the influence Reno had on my shaping and competitive success,” says Richards.

Two-time world champion Tom Carroll, the first pro surfer to sign a million dollar contract, chose the hot pink 7’8” Pat Rawson with which he did “The Snap” during one of his famous Pipeline wins on 12 foot bomb as his contribution.  The superbly fit and powerful Carroll aboard this hot pink board snapping under the lip of that awesome wave is a truly iconic scene.

1989 world champion Martin “Pottz” Potter’s chosen surfboard is his title-winning 6’2” Blue Flame shaped by Glen Minami of Blue Hawaii. Pottz is known as the pioneer of progressive surfing, the man who revolutionized surfing with aerial maneuvers; free surfing during competitions to everyone’s amazement. Pottz with his blue-flamed board beneath his feet, speeding across the water before taking to the air…this board was indeed the portent of today’s surfing style.

And who could forget the all black Pacific Dreams 6’3 of Matt Hoy with the white Maltese Cross?  The never-say-die party legend who can take waves apart like few others living much cleaner lives can, has 5 world tour event wins to his credit, and is still admired for his ability to live life his own way.  This black “outlaw” board is a testament to the free spirit in all of us.

The fifth surfboard is from Western Australia’s Jake Paterson, whose all guts for all the glory charge in the dying seconds at Backdoor won him the Pipeline Masters and the admiration and respect of the world’s best surfers. His board that day….a borrowed 7’4” baby swallow…which is on display in Jake’s surf shop today.
